The InterFaith Solution

By Thomas Lee Abshier, ND

6/19/2010

The problem that Christianity faces is its claim of exclusivity.  Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father but by me.”  This claim of exclusivity of entrance into heaven has put Christianity outside of the community of world religions as just another path to God.

The center seed of the Interfaith Solution is recognizing that there is a God that created this universe.  There are many revelations, prophets, sacred texts, avatars, opinions, beliefs about the fundamental structure of reality.  But, the fact is that there really is only one Truth, and many perspectives, opinions, and beliefs about that truth.

Ultimately, we cannot say there are many paths to God. Rather, we can only say that there is One God.  What is true, is ultimately true, and any error, any deviation from that Truth will produce the effect associated with error.  Thus, any acceptance of those who do not follow the way of Truth, the absolute Truth, the perfect path, will be because of grace.  We know that God is merciful and knows that He desires that none should perish.  We do not know the exact criteria God uses to allow in souls who have transited the great challenge of incarnation in this world.
