The Speed of Light, Ether, and Relativity
By: Thomas Lee Abshier, ND
- Before the Michelson-Morley experiment of 1887, the scientific community was totally
united in the concept that light was conducted by an ether, a substance hypothesized
to be the medium that transmitted light through space. But, with the null result
of the MMX, the scientific community was left without a model to explain the conduction
of light. This question has never been resolved, and modern physics has used this
experimental evidence as final proof that light travels through space without a medium.
- The replacement of the ether with a relativity-based mathematical model for light
has deep implications, the greatest of which is the philosophical implication of
a universe that has no actual underlying structure, and leaves EVERYTHING as relative
to itself without outside comparison or accountability. Examples of the phenomenon
which are left without an intuitive, mechanistic explanation are the following:
- Pair Production: a ã ray photon splits into an electron and positron mass next to
a heavy nucleus.
- Pair Annihilation: an electron and positron (or any two particles of matter and antimatter)
combine and create two g ray photons.
- Vacuum speed of light: light has a constant speed in a vacuum, but the reason for
the speed of light being dependent upon the inductive and capacitive nature of the
space is an unexplained, chance arrangement of the properties of the physical universe.
- Cherenkov radiation: When particles travel at close to the local speed of light in
one medium, and the move into a second region with a slower speed of light, the extra
energy that the medium cannot support is radiated off as blue light photons.
- Conservation of Energy: Kinetic energy arises from the energy expended in accelerating
mass; Kinetic energy can convert into heat, spring compression, photons, sound, or
be transferred to another mass after collision. The conservation is always complete.
The energy may be more coherent before transference, and it may be broken up into
many smaller pieces or types after collision/conversion/state change, but the sum
of energy before and after will always be equivalent.
- Mass and energy equivalence: E=mc². When particles are traveling they accumulate
mass as per the measurements of their energy content by collision and other measures.
- Orbital electrons: and electrons travel around in orbitals (experiencing angular
acceleration at every moment) without radiating energy.
- Wave Particle Duality: Dual slit interferometry; Photoelectric effect.
- Dual Slit Interferometry: Particles of mass, such as an accelerated electron, which
cannot travel at the speed of light, exhibits wavelike properties as it passes a
dual slit, one electron at a time. Under these conditions the electron will will
produce an interference pattern equivalent to its deBroglie wavelength on the target
behind the dual slit.
- The Photoelectric Effect: Photons, which travel only at the local speed of light,
are tiny electromagnetic pulses which exhibit particle-like properties when they
strike an orbital electron. If the photon has sufficient energy, then it will ionize
a metal, but if the photon is below a certain energy it will not ionize.
- Quantum Mechanical Tunneling: Particles of mass move from one side of an energy barrier
to another without having sufficient energy to cross over the barrier.
- Etcetera: All of the above field effects, quantum mechanical effects, particle effects,
relativistic effects, and mechanical effects are all explainable using the underlying
conscious particle model of the Dipole Sea and the Grid Points.
- The Theory of Absolutes proposes a hypothetical model for a “type of ether” that
conducts light, and mediates all other mass and wave phenomena. The proof of the
theory lies in its universal ability to provide a mechanistic understructure that
follows a set of rules which are general, and consistent with all known phenomena.
Ideally, the theory would have principles which are quantitative and predictive
of new phenomena by equation relationships. I believe the Theory will some day be
quantified by equation relationships that will reflect these qualitative concepts.
