Work, Force, and Acceleration

A charge only has movement because it was accelerated by an E or B field.  Thus, since the particle has mass, its velocity corresponds to the work done on it by the accelerating forces of the E & B fields.  The energy imparted to a mass was previously stored as potential energy by the E & B fields surrounding the space around charged particles.

 

  1. Kinetic energy is related to mass and velocity by the equation: KE = ½mv²  
  2. The equation relating force to acceleration is: F=ma
  3. The equation relating force to work and distance moved is: W = F · ∆x
  4. The equation relating momentum to mass and velocity is: p = mv
