The Theory of Evolution

The fossil record supports the view that increasingly complex generations of plants and animals arose over the earth’s mega-millennia.  The evolutionist takes this evidence as proof of the power of time and chance mutation to explain the upward move of plants and animals toward specialized adaptation and ultimately consciousness.  

• The power of God to move conscious particles and order them according to his command provides the “intelligent design” counterpoint to the theory of evolution.  The deity-directed transformation of inanimate into animate, with its ultimate rise to self-conscious awareness and independent will follows directly from the hypothesis of the “conscious particle.”  
• A particle which totally depends on God’s continued creation for its existence would naturally be subject to such simple processes as translation, and rearrangement of configuration.  Particles are subject to God’s Law as they operate in the ordinary moment to moment manifestation of force and momentum phenomenon.  
• It takes little extrapolation of reason to support the theoretical proposition that God’s creative power modified the atomic and molecular composition of cells, which in turn formed the required tissue and organ structures to adapt to their environment.  This process of modification of form and function to adapt to the local micro-environment has operated in parallel throughout the earth and its ages.
• The successful adaptation of flora and fauna to an environment provides the foundation for the creation of whole new classes of predator and prey which are dependent upon the previous layer of plant and animal life for their survival.  
• The “gradual intelligent design” hypothesis provides an intuitively satisfying explanation for how each new layer of life-complexity exquisitely balances the defense and offense of the plant and animal life in each eco-niche.  God’s commitment to populate His world with a full spectrum of life explains the ever-upward climb of organization in the creation of whole new classes of life.
• Geological stratification data indicate that only the simpler life forms are found in deeper and older layers, and that the more complex life forms are found in the younger strata.  This empirical observation and the Gradual Intelligent Design hypothesis are consistent with the Biblical story of creation if we allow the concept of “days” correspond to ages.  Given the Bible’s rich use of metaphor, mixed with historical fact, I believe that believers can with integrity embrace this theory.
• The seven days of creation were completed around 6000 years ago.  But, even though God has finished His creative phase of life-form generation, He still operates in the daily transaction of relationships.  He moves the minds of men and nations, while still allowing Free Will and enforcing the consequences of violation of His way of Righteousness.
• Biblical Creationism: The Bible states that the creation period lasted only seven days.  Obviously, the concept of a universe created in a period of only seven Earth days only 6000 years ago, contradicts the earth history timeline proposed by the geologist-astronomer.  But, such a scenario could have been manifested by God raising the speed of light.  With this adjustment, all of history would have proceeded much more quickly.  By adjusting the basic time constants of the universe (ì and å), light will travel farther per moment, which means that particles will respond quicker and move faster.  Millions of years of equivalent earth aging phenomenon, starlight travel, geologic formation, and God-directed morphing of the species, could have occurred in the space of a few earth hours, or seconds.  Such a scenario is the equivalent of the space traveler traveling at the speed of light and then returning home after a few days of their time, only to find the Earth has aged centuries.
