Photon Interference
By: Thomas Lee Abshier, ND
In photon interference, such as is seen in a thin film of oil or soap bubble, the reflection off of the two surfaces (inner and outer) creates a superimposition of photons, and a change in the perceived frequency. The photon will reverse its phase by the reflection from the outer layer of the soap bubble or oil slick on water. The internal reflection from the soap bubble will not reverse its phase. The phase of the photon will reverse in the case of the oil slick on water.
