Torque on the Magnetic Pole
By: Thomas Lee Abshier, ND
The origin of all magnetic phenomena is the charged particle which generates by the magnetic field by command. The magnetic field radiates out in a sphere of magnetic vectors which apply a torque on the magnetic poles of other charged particles. The radiated B field applies a torque to align the magnetic pole of other charged particles with its own. In engineering terms, the force applied to the pole to rotate it is calculated as the vector “dot” product, i.e. Bfield · sinθ. The angle θ is the angle between the magnetic pole and the B field vector direction. Obviously when θ = 90° the magnetic pole will experience the maximum torque.
